today feels like the rest. A wondering spirit with pushed thoughts. Thank god for friends to keep me sane. today, today I miss my love. Wondering does he feel the same way I do? Does he love so much, so deeply that it almost feels unfair to have this when so many don't? Because I do. I feel lucky to know something, someone of such greatness. and such beauty. ugh! with So much love and happiness comes the unimaginable pain of everything else. "when it hurts so bad, why does it feel so good?"
they killed it! Incredible live show. They performed at SLObrew which is a bit more on the frat-boy, blonde drunk chicks side but the live music has been suprisingly great. Phantogram performed the shit out of their new album. I love it when you've been rocking out to a c.d. and then you finally get to hear the music live it is 50x better than the recorded version. Now that is a great band, and these guys surely did that. The sound from just three musicians : insane drummer, guitarist/male vocalist, keyboards/sound machine/female vocalist (she was incredible), was huge. It could have been the new sound system they put in downstairs at the Brew, but I'm not even sure if they have a new sound system set-up. I think it was all purely the band. Such ambiance, such togetherness and in-sync for indie noise music. The sound covered and surrounded my body in such a great way. so fun!!! so good!!! and big ups to Dan who gave the singer,(the female one), a boquet of roses. She handled it with class and gave a genuine smile and wave at the end of the show. No hugs tho, bummer for Dan's boner. next-time buddy. I only captured one picture (and it's a shitty one) because I was so entranced by the music and fun times.
April 8th, I saw The Dodos in concert for my birthday which followed on the 9th. My friends got me the ticket and we cruised down to LA and caught the show at the El Rey theatre which was awesome. Great live band. They had a fill in guitar player who was just ok. A fantastic drummer with a very hipster conservative demeanor with these crazy controlled break outs on the drums. This guy was insane. Loved it. The singer/guitarist was fun and up beat. He did a great job of talking to the crowd and getting us to feel that we all knew we were all there together. Great experience, great summer jams, and some really-fuckin-great hot dogs. 2 for $6!
just another day in beautiful Shell Beach. Bbq'n outside. And of course I always make dessert. My grand plan to win hearts was destroyed by the simple fact that dark plums and nectarines are not in season til late summer... so I had to think quick.
Blackberry, Peach, and a dash of apricot cobbler should do. And it was amazing if I do say so myself.
