Reese's Pieces and Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 1/4 c. unbleached flour
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
1 c. unsalted butter (2 sticks)
3/4 c. light brown sugar (fat and packed)
1/2 c. white sugar
1 t. vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 c. reese piece chips (you get these in the baking aisle, they look like chocolate chips but are reese's.)
1 c. Hershey's special dark chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. My oven runs hot so I do it at about 360.
Blend ingredients in order of recipe listing. Melt the butter, be sure not to burn it; when melting butter I like to scrape off the fat layer that forms on top of the butter before pouring it into the cookie mix. The nicer the butter, the less fat you have.
After mixing all ingredients, a nice touch is to have a bowl of sugar (I prefer raw cane sugar) set to the side. When rolling the dough into tablespoons size rounds, roll or sprinkle a bit of sugar on top of the cooke for a nice touch. It also makes the cookie have a crispier outside, and chewier, more delicious inside.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. let cool... and enjoy!
